OUTER URBAN PROJECTS
Outer Urban Projects (OUP) is a dynamic performing arts company producing live and digital intergenerational performance works that develop and elevate the stories of young people, artists and their communities residing in our diverse emergent suburbs. OUP’s work investigates the challenges of searching for respect, love, intimacy, emotional security and justice in a turbulent world that negates the value of the individual and the outsider.
The company’s Major Works deliver moving and provocative universal narratives that explore the social, cultural, and economic turbulence of Melbourne’s outer north, Australia and the globe.
These works are presented in festivals, mainstream and independent arts venues, as well as in non-traditional performance environments, connecting with communities and audiences in surprising ways.
In 10 years OUP have forged a dynamic company delivering an outstanding body of acclaimed work including: Urban Chamber – Beyond (Melbourne Festival, 2013), Poetic License (Melbourne Writers Festival 2014), Grand DiVisions – A moved urban cantata (Melbourne Festival, 2015), VESSEL (2017), The Audition (2019).
